Chapter 25 - THE REAL REASON FOR THE SECOND ALARMHannah finally reconstructed the exact plan.

First alarm at 1:06.
Silence manually.
No medication.
Limited water.
Heat.
The goal was not immediate death.
Diana expected Emma’s monitor to trigger again later.
Around 4:30.
She planned to call emergency services herself.
Then report:
Child developed recurrent arrhythmia despite appropriate supervision.
Father failed to provide accurate medication history.
Child requires longer medically supervised placement.
The first hidden alarm would not appear in Diana’s narrative.
Only the second.
Two “episodes” in one day.
One before transfer.
One under care.
Enough to suggest an unstable baseline.
Enough to seek an extended emergency order.
Enough to keep Emma away while Harrington searched for Laura’s evidence.
I ruined the timing by returning early.
Why did I return early?
The barricaded veteran surrendered at 2:41.
I called Hopewell.
No answer.
Then Mrs. Gable called dispatch at 3:37.
She did not know my private number.
She called 911.
Dispatch recognized Emma’s name.

I drove straight there.
Diana expected me after 6:00.
