The police interviewed me about the restaurant incident and unauthorized account access.
They also interviewed Mr. Lawson.
He provided office security footage from the day Daniel visited.
Watching it was surreal.
Daniel in a blazer I bought him for our anniversary.
Smiling at reception.
Lying smoothly.
“I’m here on behalf of Emily Carter.”
He offered Mr. Lawson money to “avoid embarrassing complications.”
He suggested I was emotionally unstable.
He said I had a history of mixing work and male attention.
Mr. Lawson’s face in the video stayed polite.
But his hands folded tighter with every word.
Finally, Mr. Lawson said, “If Emily wants to withdraw, she can tell me herself.”
Daniel smiled.
“She won’t. That’s why I’m here.”
