My Husband Burst Into My Client Meeting Accusing Me Of Cheating, So I Ended The Marriage In Public.

I went to meet a client about a partnership, and my jealous husband burst in accusing me of having an affair.
It was not the first time he ruined my work.
So I slapped him and asked for a divorce in front of everyone.
The meeting was at a hotel restaurant in New York.
I had prepared for it for three weeks.
My client, Mr. Lawson, owned a chain of clinics across the state.
If he signed with my company, I could finally prove I was more than Daniel’s wife.
I was showing him the proposal when my phone started buzzing.
Daniel.
Again.
I ignored it.
Mr. Lawson nodded toward the contract.
“This looks promising, Emily.”
For the first time that week, I breathed.
Then the restaurant doors opened hard.
Daniel walked in with his jaw tight and his eyes wild.
“Of course.”
I froze.
“Daniel, what are you doing here?”
He pointed at Mr. Lawson.
“This is your business meeting?”
Mr. Lawson slowly stood.
“Sir, I think there’s been a misunderstanding.”
Daniel laughed.
“Don’t talk to me like I’m stupid.”
People at nearby tables turned to watch.
My face burned.
“Stop. This is my client.”
Daniel grabbed the proposal from the table and threw it onto the floor.
“Client? Is that what we call it now?”
My hands started shaking.
This was the third time.
First, he showed up at my office and screamed at my boss.
Then he followed me to a conference and called my coworker a homewrecker.
Now this.
Mr. Lawson picked up his briefcase.
“Mrs. Carter, perhaps we should reschedule.”
Daniel smiled.
“She won’t be rescheduling anything with you.”
That smile broke something in me.
I stood up.
“You do not own me.”
He stepped closer.
“You’re my wife.”
“And you have destroyed every chance I had to build something.”
Daniel leaned down and hissed, “Maybe you should stop acting single.”
I slapped him.
Hard.
The restaurant went silent.
Daniel touched his cheek, stunned.
I took off my wedding ring and placed it on the table.
“I want a divorce.”
His face changed.
“Emily, don’t embarrass me.”
I almost laughed.
“You followed me here to humiliate me.”
Mr. Lawson had stopped near the exit.
He was watching Daniel now.
Daniel grabbed my wrist.
“You’re coming home.”
I pulled free.
“No. I’m calling my lawyer.”
Then Mr. Lawson walked back to the table.
His voice was calm.
“Mrs. Carter, before you do that, there’s something you should know.”
Daniel turned toward him.
Mr. Lawson opened his briefcase and took out a folder.
“Your husband came to my office yesterday and offered me money to cancel this partnership.”
My breath stopped.
Daniel went pale.

Then Mr. Lawson slid one more paper across the table.
“And he signed it using your company email.”
