Chapter 7 - OWEN’S PHONE DISCOVERYOwen had found Jason's phone because Jason gave it to him earlier that morning.

Cartoons.
Jason forgot to lock messages.
Owen saw Grandma's name and opened it because he recognized Linda's photo.
He could not read most words.
But he could read:

gone
today
And he had heard Linda and Jason whisper.
Children collect pieces adults assume they cannot understand.
Owen told the evaluator:
“Grandma said after party Mommy sleeps somewhere else.”
“Did that make you scared?”

That sentence destroyed me.
Not because I was the only parent who could care for him.
Jason knew bedtime too.

Jason had planned to disrupt it deliberately.
After evaluation, Amanda requested temporary parenting schedule preventing either parent from discussing litigation around Owen.
Judge agreed.
No coaching.
No “Mommy is crazy.”
No “Daddy is bad.”

I wanted to tell Owen everything.
I didn't.
At four, he needed:

“Mom and Dad are living separately. We both love you. This is not your fault.”
That was enough.
