Chapter 10 - MY FATHER’S TRUSTMy father recovered from his cancer scare.

When I finally told him everything, he became furious.
“I’m changing the trust.”
“No.”
He stared.
“What?”
“Don't change anything because you're angry.”
“But Jason—”
“Isn't trustee.”
My father paused.
He had created the trust with an independent bank trustee.
Jason was only contingent guardian recommendation, not financial controller.
Amanda confirmed.
Even if Jason became Owen's primary custodial parent, he could not simply access the trust.
The fear Jason built his plan around was partly imaginary.
He wanted leverage over money he might never control.
My father looked embarrassed.
“I should have told you details.”
“Yes.”
Another family secret through “protection.”
We reviewed everything together.
No surprises.
