Chapter 10 - The Unraveling Dynasty

Marcus dropped Preston back onto the marble floor with a heavy crash.

The double reinforced titanium blast doors at the front of the Grand Easter Ballroom suddenly hissed as high-pressure pneumatic valves released their seals.

HEAVY METALLIC CLANG.

The massive doors swung outward into the cool night air.

Floodlights mounted on tactical armored vehicles parked on the country club lawn cut through the darkness, pouring bright white light into the red-lit ballroom.

Dozens of federal agents in navy windbreakers stamped with gold letters—FBI and DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY—poured into the room with sidearms drawn, moving with practiced tactical precision.

Senior Agent David Vance, a fifty-year-old man with sharp gray hair and a navy suit, walked into the center of the ballroom, holding a leather folder.

Agent Vance: "Commander Reed... the perimeter is completely locked down by federal marshals."

Marcus offered Vance a firm, professional handshake.

Marcus: "Agent Vance. Vivienne and Preston Beaumont are in custody. Sheriff Raymond Pike is compromised."

Vance turned toward two armed marshals behind him, waving his hand toward the Beaumont family.

Agent Vance: "Secure Vivienne Beaumont, Preston Beaumont, and Raymond Pike. Escort them to the command vehicle on the driveway."

Four marshals moved in quickly, grabbing Preston and Vivienne’s arms, snapping steel handcuffs around their wrists with loud, crisp clicks.

Vivienne screamed with aristocratic fury as she was pulled across the marble floor toward the open doors.

Vivienne: "You can't do this to me! I know senators in Washington! I know judges on the appellate court!"

Agent Vance didn't even look back as she was led away into the night air.

Agent Vance: "Your senators are being served with subpoenas as we speak, Mrs. Beaumont."
