Chapter 8 - THE ROAD TO JUSTICE

The wail of police sirens and fire trucks echoed through the quiet valley as emergency vehicles sped up the winding hill road toward the burning estate.
Ethan, covered in soot and bruised from his confrontation with the arsonists, stumbled out of the front entrance of the mansion just as the first police cruiser pulled into the driveway. Firefighters immediately rushed past him with heavy water hoses to battle the blaze.
"Sir! Are you okay?" a police captain asked, rushing to Ethan's side.
"My son! My maid and my baby are still inside or around the property!" Ethan coughed out, his voice hoarse from smoke inhalation. "And the woman responsible—Victoria Vance—she ordered this!"
At that moment, Victoria was attempting to slip into her sports car to speed away down the back exit road.
"Stop that vehicle!" the captain shouted over his radio.
Two police cars blocked the end of the driveway, their high beams shining brightly onto Victoria’s car. Victoria slammed on her brakes, her tires screeching against the asphalt.
"Get out of the car with your hands up!" an officer commanded over a loudspeaker.
Victoria stepped out of the car, her champagne gown ruined with soot, her face pale with desperation. "This is a mistake! I'm a victim here! I came to save them!"
Suddenly, a voice called out from the darkness near the front gates.

"She's lying!"
Everyone turned to see Sarah walking onto the pavement, tired, scratched, but holding baby Leo safe, sound, and unharmed in her arms.
